29 May 2007

Committee Members Present:  Louie Beaupre, Curt Corrigan, Jon Goodman,

Audrey Irwin, Dale Mood, Dee Perry, Sara Oclassen, and Richard Leddon.

Minutes from the April Board meeting are to be updated and approved via email.

Standing Business

Swim:

Audrey has obtained the home meet to do list from Alyssa Beyer and is

getting volunteers including "managers" for the grill and bake sale.

Bruce Douglas will be missing some meets.  He has posted a sign

requesting help taking pictures and working on end of the year slide

show.  Sara to follow-up.

The coaches and guards are hired.

Pool start up is very difficult this year.  Several leaks have caused delays and additional operating expense.  PVC pipe is 35 years old and not as stable as new pipe would be.  Could be time to assess replacement of pool pipes if the problem continues next year.

Lifeguards are now wearing “Lifeguard” T-shirts. It was suggested that pictures of lifeguards be posted on the bulletin board in order for members to better know and identify them.

Swim committee met with several members to conduct S.W.O.T. analysis.  Notes were prepared and the committee will meet to discuss next steps and follow up.

Tennis:

Adding the role of tennis administrator needs to be assessed in the near future.  Could help with billing & collections adding revenue for the Club.

Committee is developing checklist for court readiness in May (water, trash pickup etc.).

Curt Corrigan is pursuing pre-application process with the City on update of tennis facilities.  Application fees vary by project.  Need to determine if items should be broken out for separate applications or presented as a large project.  Jon Goodman proposed that the items be prioritized and presented to the city.   City has a very long approval process (could be as long as six months) that includes facilitated neighborhood meetings to obtain feedback.

Committee is moving forward on action items from S.W.O.T. analysis.

General Business:

Sprinkler system damaged over the winter and was repaired.

Irrigation pump for pond water replaced with latest and most efficient model at a cost of $10-12K.

Several leaks in the pool and tennis court water spickets have been repaired.

Dale evaluated a battery operated, rechargeable, tennis court sweeper.  The unit will clean a court in 30 minutes.

The 2006 Profit and Loss statement for the Club was reviewed.  Income is flat and expenses are up 5% versus the prior year.  Board will assess guest fees in the Fall.

Miscellaneous:

·        Spring Fling Club Tennis tournament and all Club Spring Fling Party were very successful.  There were over 80 attendees and 50 tennis round robin participants.

·        Need some new grills and chairs for the pool shelter in the coming months.  Show too much wear and tear.

·        Satellite and Internet are up and running.  Audrey Irwin is training Club personnel on use of email and internet at the Club.

·        Still need to assign a gatekeeper of Club email.  Audrey is monitoring over the short term.
